Materials & Finishes

At Wolf Workshop we try to the best of our ability to use only environmentally friendly materials for each piece we make. All of our timbers are furniture grade kiln dried and either FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).

Timber.

European Oak
European oak has a distinctive, wavy grain pattern boasting warm, honeyed golden browns, prominent knots and swirls, and in some instances burr and medullary rays.

American Oak
American oak, also referred to as white oak, tends to display a lighter tan colour with some pinkish and yellow hues. It has a less pronounced, straighter grain pattern and is commonly found with medullary rays.

American Walnut
American Walnut well known for its beautifully figured dark brown and sometimes purplish heartwood which is contrasted by the creamy light-coloured sapwood. The timber is typically associated with a fine and straight grain.

European Ash
European Ash the sapwood is light coloured to nearly white and the heartwood varies from pale greyish brown to light brown. The wood is generally bold and straight grained with a coarse uniform texture.

American Elm
The Heartwood is a light to medium brown with a wild grain interlocked grain pattern. Elm can also include interesting shimmers of green and purples flecks.

English Elm
English Elm boasts a beautiful interlocked grain pattern, making it an excellent choice for crafting tables and chairs. Its heartwood ranges from light to medium brown, while the sapwood is paler in appearance.

Cherry
The heartwood of cherry varies from light pinkish tones to rich reddish brown which will darken on exposure to light. In contrast the sapwood is creamy white. The wood has a fine uniform straight grain, smooth texture, and may naturally contain brown pith flecks and small gum pockets.

Finishes.

At Wolf Workshop we offer a variety of finishes, all of which are 100% organic and derived from natural ingredients or meet the highest environmental standards.

Natural Tung Oil
An all-natural product, Tung oil provides a water resistant and food safe finnish. It enhances the natural colour and character of the wood, giving an almost damp like appearance, with it being a penetrating oil it allows the wood to age gracefully and develop a natural patina.
A natural product extracted from the nuts of the Tung tree, and as such may cause an allergic reaction.

Danish Oil
A natural blend of oils and resins, Danish oil provides a water resistant and food safe finish, is highly durable and provides a attractive satin finish.

Osmo Wax Oil Blend
Ideal for high traffic areas available in multiple finishes such as gloss, satin, matt and coloured tints. OSMO is a natural oil and wax finish which provides a durable, water repellent, scuff-resistant and food safe finish once dry.

Bees Wax
A natural product, which feeds and nourishes the timber, it enhances the natural look of the timber with a natural soft sheen finish, the product is food safe and water resistant.

Warranty.

All furniture manufactured by Wolf Workshop holds a 2-year structural warranty.

We take great care in selecting the highest quality of furniture grade timber, combined with traditional craftmanship and modern technology, our furniture is made to last a lifetime.

Proper handling and care for each product is essential to guarantee longevity. Natural environmental factors will affect the condition of furniture and can lead to cupping, timber splitting, shrinkage, expansion and discolouration which unfortunately cannot be warranted.  

Sustainable.

PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification)
Founded in 1999 PEFC is an independent, non-profit, non-government organisation which promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third-party certification.

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)
Founded in 1993 to raise the standards of forest management and create openness in the timber supply chain through an internationally recognized timber certification process.

Fabrics.

We work closely with trusted interior designers to provide the latest fabrics, to compliment your chosen piece of furniture.
